It seems like everybody has an opinion on how Tim Tebow will fare in the NFL. Some people love his drive and determination, and feel like that will be the determining factor in making him a successful NFL Quarterback. Others feel that his lack of elite arm strength, and reliance on the run will cause him to have an unsuccessful transition from the college game to the pro game. Whatever your opinion is, chances are that you believe it strongly.
I feel like Tim Tebow will be a success in the NFL, provided he lands with an NFL team that is able to properly utilize his strengths. Now, there are some shortcomings to his game. For one, he really does not have elite arm strength. If you look at guys like Matthew Stafford, the first pick in the 2009 NFL Draft, Tebow's arm strength is definitely not that strong. Also, Tebow is accurate, but he does not have the accuracy of a guy like Sam Bradford, who will be one of the top picks at the QB position in the 2010 Draft. His arm is not ideal for an NFL Quarterback.
However, it seems like he has almost every other attribute that you could want from your quarterback. Mentally, he is as good as it gets. He is a natural leader who can get the best out of the guys around him. If you look at the Florida Gators, it seems as if everybody responds to him and feeds off of his (seemingly endless) energy. You need a quarterback that will command the respect of his teammates, a guy who will have the full attention of everyone in the huddle, and Tim Tebow possesses those qualities. He truly leads by example, and will set the tone for any organization. He will outwork everyone else, and that is the perfect attribute for a guy that is looked on to be the leader of a football team.
He is also very smart out on the field. He seems to always make the right decisions, and this has led to a superb TD/INT ratio. He is not a guy that is simply out to get his, or is looking for any glory. He won the Heisman Trophy as a sophomore, won a national title as a junior, and still has decided to come back for his senior season. It wouldn't seem like he has anything left to prove at the collegiate level, but still he is back because he simply loves the game, and has the will and determination to be the best. Those are the traits that I believe will make him a successful quarterback in the NFL.
So, there are definitely some negatives to Tebow's game, I believe those are outweighed by the positives, such as the mental attributes, toughness, leadership, and will to win and be the best. In my opinion, those will carry him to being a very successful NFL quarterback, and make whatever team that drafts him very happy with their selection.
