Family politics is very common everywhere regardless of age and status of the family. Rich, poor and middle class people have these issues in their lives. Much more if the sons and daughters in-law have different types of attitudes that some members of the family find it hard to blend with. Family politics is just a tough situation to overcome. FAVORITISM is the most common issue of family politics.

What are the negative effects of family politics?

1. Lost of respect to each other in the family. Once a member of the family starts to be unfair with the other, they eventually lost respect with one another. They started to feel bitter with one another, argue, fight and being reasonable with their own feelings. This is a hard thing to tackle. It is very unhealthy when this happens in the family. When one lost respect, parents, kids, siblings never respect each other, it is really a misery.

2. Family politics create family feuds. When anybody in the family starts to favor the other or starts to be unfair. the family will starts to have feud. They will not be in good terms. They will start to backbite with one another. They will start to be inconsiderate and angry to each other. Playing politics in the family can create a lot of trouble.

3. Family politics can diminish love within the family circle. Love and concerned will be out of the picture when there is favoritism in the family. They don't care anymore when one of them has problem, the other members of the family are no longer affected. They don't even care to help or find solution to solve the problem. Simply They don't care/

4. It will discourage cooperation in family affairs. This is true, when someone is hurt because of unfairness due to somebody who plays politics in the family circle, the result is that, they don't want to cooperate in family affairs like, family reunions, parties and other family gatherings, they will refuse to cooperate.

5. They will harbor hurt and grudges. The members of the family who are in less advantage, will feel insecure and chances are they will develop low self esteem. This is very difficult to imagine. I hope everybody must bear in mind the future effects of playing politics in the family.

Everybody should be fair in dealing with family members to avoid these negative effects which are very tragic and unhealthy to all members of the family. The adults should set good examples as role models of fairness.
