Are you a handyman, a carpenter, a wood carver or just a hobbyist who builds things made from wood just for the fun of it? Whichever person that you happen to be it is quite likely that you do own and use a number of power tools.
Such craftsmen, amateur or not, take pride in the finished result of their work. More often than not, if that finished item looks well it is most likely well made. I too have several items of furniture that I made for myself and that I have used longer than the average age of the World's Human population.
Then again, the cost of all of those truly marvelous woodworking power tools is much too high a price for me to pay. Then again, those of you who earn a living by making such wood items for the public certainly want to own and use all of those time saving gadgets within your workshop.
A bench router, a bench saw, a drill press, a bench sander, a jigsaw and a lathe are essential for the work at hand, not to mention the use of a shop vacuum that is also an essential part of the workshop. Then again, one surely needs a whole lot of accessories, like drill bits, rotary and/or band saw blades, router bits, jigs and sanding belts.
You might think that the above is all that you will need to build anything made of wood, but that is not the case for the above classified woodworkers. One also requires the use of a hand held power drill that can turn the power shaft in either direction. A hand held high speed drill is great for engraving, carving and detail sanding. A hand held power sander is also a must for smoothing the exterior surface of a recently constructed item.
For those of you who most certainly use nails in which to fasten some of the pieces of your wood creation an electric powered air compressor powers a hand held nail gun which drives those nails into the wood with little or no effort on the part of the user. That air compressor can also power a sprayer for painting and/or staining the exterior surface of your creation.
If you have not already guessed, one must do more than build that item of furniture. Such an item does require additional finishing and the installation of other hardware that might be required to complete the item in question. The kind of power tools that you might purchase is only limited by your degree of professionalism, how much you produce and the amount of money that you have available to accomplish each and every building project.
So now you have some idea of the power tools that a woodworker would most desire to own and use within his or her woodworking shop. Then too, there are a whole lot of specialized power tools that are made by many power tool manufacturers. Some of which might be perfectly fine for you and the woodworking that you desire to do.
