*Marketplace

Marketplace is a great opportunity to make some extra money and also gain recognition through a growing portfolio. Each week there are many new opportunities for writers to submit their best work, expand their portfolio and earn. Writers can typically expect anywhere between $20 and $100 depending on the publisher (and every so often there are some higher earning opportunities!)

Even if your article is not chosen by the publisher, Helium will pay you "kill fees" for title groups that transition to Helium if they are located in eligible channels. Not all title groups will transition due to the nature of the content submitted, so be sure and read the specifications to know whether or not you'll get a payment for a non-purchased Marketplace article.

Stars also count for Marketplace because some titles are considered Premier and only authors with a writing star are able to write to these topics (there is also other personal information which must be filled out in your account, check with the Premier specifications to ensure you've included all the necessary information). It is not uncommon for Premier submissions to have higher earning potential.

*Contests

Helium's contests are highly competitive, but they are fun and a good way to try and increase earnings. Like 'regular' title groups, the first five people to write to a contest title earn upfront payments. Additionally these articles tend to get a lot of page views during the time the contest is open, so you can get a little boost in earnings when writing to contests.

There are typically several contests running simultaneously and on a regular basis. Normally each week several new contests open. Prizes for winning a Helium contest will vary according to the specific contest and the nature of changing the kinds of competitions up periodically, but generally there are 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners for each contest.

*Write to Empty Titles

Helium is growing and a good way to help promote this cause and earn a bit more money in the process is to write to empty titles in eligible channels. For each empty title you write to in the designated channels you will earn the upfront payment PLUS $1 empty title bonus.

Ad revenue sharing earnings are often very good with writing to these because since it's a small topic, you'll get more visibility initially.

There are other things that factor in with quality, quantity and the other miscellaneous ways you can earn on Helium. If you take time to learn search engine optimization (SEO) techniques, this too can help gain visibility to your articles.

Earning on Helium does take some investment of time, but in the long run this effort pays off. Many of Helium's top earners are consistently earning several hundred dollars a month which is a great supplemental income.
