To get your first star you need 4 to 29 Helium articles which rank on average in the 75% or above. You can receive a maximum of 5 writing stars with 500 articles. Helium does discount the bottom 10%, so 90% of your articles must rank in the top quarter to be eligible for writing stars.

One thing, it is important to understand creative writing pieces do not count in these calculations, as this channel has it's own recognition system with badges.

Helium also offers a bonus star if 90% of articles rank 85% or above. This is a good reason to strive for quality. Higher ranked articles not only earn better on average, they also increase the numbers of stars you have.

As the number of your writing stars increases, the more opportunity for earnings you have because the upfront payment amount commensurate with the number of writing stars possessed.

*Upfront Payments
