Poetry: Fun

by Caroline Tigeress

Tripping down the trail,

Skipping merrily.

No cares in the world,

any child should be so lucky.

But today, in this summer's heat,

my ten year old in her sun dress.

Zooms around the back yard,

Golden Retriever in Tow.

I sit in my chair in the shade,

watching her dance and prance.

I sip at the ice water,

trying to keep cool.

Normally I sleep during the hot day,

but not on this day.

Not on this fun

Sunny Afternoon.
