Working through lulls in the writing process

looking for inspiration? The most productive inspiration comes when you collect potential titles, and paste them to a word processing document. Go through titles, and choose a whole variety. One of the reasons that Helium contests are so popular is that they present a page of possibilities for the writer. By pasting all these titles into a document, you can scroll through and write whatever takes your mood, canceling out each in turn, and adding new titles as and when you find them.

During the course of rating, you may just see titles which inspire. Don't expect to be able to write on them straight away, but paste these to your list, so that the options you give yourself are wider in scope and can suit every mood.

Coming up with fresh ideas to motivate you.

Anyone can write an article. How many can take a stance on a subject which is a completely original approach? The challenge which takes you out of stagnation is that moment of inspiration when you discover how to cover a topic in a way which other writers have not. When you have your list of titles, write down a shortlist of ideas of how you will approach the subject. Look at what others have done on the Internet and see how your ideas match up.

It's extremely rewarding to know what is out there already, as there is very little incentive to writing mediocre articles which are the same as everyone else's. Try and find individual ways to get your style to be noticeable and read. It is this challenge which is a great way to spend lulls productively, and using that period when ideas are dried up to create new tactics helps you to overcome and lessen the effects of lulls. Using these methods, you can make that time of lack of inspiration productive and go on to producing works which have lasting value and which aid your success as a writer.
