The reasons for lack of sex are many and few couples escape the issue of no sex drive at some point in their relationship. If a couple finds one or the other is not interested in sex anymore, they should work to identify the reasons why. Once they have found the reason, they can work together on dealing with the issue, whether through acceptance or lifestyle changes. Women face a higher incidence of low libido than men at an estimated 43% compared to an estimated 20% in men.
Fatigue:
Fatigue can be the result of many things whether it is from poor eating habits, medications, too much work or stress. This can lower the sex drive purely from lack of energy to perform the deed. But anyone can fight back against fatigue. If you can't slow your schedule down, try eating a healthy diet rich in nutrients and low in fat, salt, and sugars. Add a vitamin supplement with B12 to give a natural boost to your energy. Exercise improves circulation and increases endorphins, adding energy and boosting a feeling of wellness.
Body Image:
Women are especially vulnerable to body image issues plying into their sex drive. Society focuses on the tall, slim, attractive ideal that most people cannot attain. Most women fuss about their breast size, waistline, and hips without finding the beauty in their own form. Add to this the changes a woman's body goes through after having children, and the seeds have been planted for low self-body image that affects the sex drive. Men can be affected, as well. Low self-esteem can come from perceptions of penis size, muscle build and height. When an individual focuses on physical imperfections, they may have less desire to have sex.
No opportunity:
Kids, work, social and family obligations can contribute to a lack of sex in a relationship. Couples may spend so much time dealing with others so that they no time to focus on themselves. Having children or parents living in your home can limit the chances for sexual activities, or reduces the act to the bare minimum. Find a sitter, send the kids to a movie and Grandma to bingo and spend an evening alone with your other half.
Hormones:
Hormonal changes in women and men can cause the sex drive to dry up. When women face hormonal changes that occur naturally from menopause, there are few answers to increasing her libido. Some success has been found with testosterone, but it has limited approval in the UK. Men may benefit from testosterone therapy even when their hormone levels are normal.
