Writing for Helium is way different than blogging, and really is not even close in comparison of an Internet chat. Helium is about knowledge, and is a place where someone can come to to find out information on a particular subject or question they are interested in learning more about. A blog is basically an on-line journal, filled with opinions, thoughts and at times rants.
The following are a few tips for ensuring your answers are successful:
~ Please remember these differences when you are writing for Helium. If you haven't the knowledge for the question at hand, you are best to leave those answers to someone more knowledgeable in that field, and look for another question to post an answer to.
~ Before answering a question, please carefully read and understand what is being asked. There is nothing worse than reading an answer to a question that has no connection or relevance to the query.
~ Spelling and grammar people. This is extremely important here. Please ensure you are using proper spelling and grammar for all of your submissions. Spell check is right there for you to use if this is a weakness for you. And proper grammar gives a much more professional read to your answer. No casual short-forms that you would use in your blog, or in an on-line chat with a friend. Keep it a little more formal than that.
Overall, treat writing on Helium as a professional writing job. You're a freelance writer earning an income here, and you wouldn't dare dream of submitting a transcript for approval with mistakes. Would you?
