How to survive a long distance relationship

Relationships today are based on how well you adapt to change. Many dating couples that have the time to build a relationship only to have their partner be relocated to a far off destination, presents many questionable thoughts by the individual. Many couples will look at the relationship and make decisions whether to make a go of it, or simply let it wither away over the time they are a part.

The foundations of a healthy long distant relationship depend on how well they trust or love the other. Strong bonds to someone you truly love can help, but are not always the answer to long distant relationships. Relationships in what ever shape or form it is presented have for years been a major problem. Surviving these types of relationships are not for the faint hearted and your work will be cut out for you in making the relationship work. A true long distance relationship can only work if the two people are on the same page and want the same things out of the relationship.

Here are some foundation tips for a strong long distant relationship:

1) Exchange pictures of each other and take them with you to your destination. Having pictures of someone you love can help you when you are alone. It triggers memories that are pleasant and positive of the one you care about. When you find yourself lonely and out of phone's reach for the moment, pick up the pictures to ease the loneliness. Picture have a way of reassuring us that things will be OK.

2) Phone calls are good, but can become excessive and expensive if you call to much. It makes the other partner think you do not trust them. Call or text message them at times before they are going to bed. It will set both parties at ease and both will have a good nights rest. Couples can set times to talk so it doesn't inconvenience the other with work or school schedules. Keep the calls conservative and tactful as you convey your feelings to the other. Give positive impressions that you will be there for them and can not wait until you are together again.

3) Plan a trip to meet them at a central location that is good for both parties. A weekend trip to be with the one you love or care about can have great benefits to keeping the relationship healthy and interesting. Meeting to be in the company of the other shows that you are in for the long haul and your partner will be pleased and reassured at the same time. Absence does not make the heart grow fonder as someone has said. Absence can cause many problems and if it is abused
