If Alex Rodriguez is not the next asterisk, he should be. First and foremost, he's admitted to doing steroids! Oh, excuse me, he admitted to "experimenting" with something he got from his cousin. If anybody believes that, I've got some prime beach front property in New Mexico. It's been said before that these guys are finely tuned machines, who watch every calorie, monitor every exercise and probably check the lunar schedules each day as well. To all of a sudden decide to "experiment" with something he didn't have the faintest clue what it was, is a complete crock. You don't see me, rushing to the medicine cabinet and trying out any and all pills on my shelf, to combat a cold, just so I can get to work. If I have a cold, I take cold medicine. If I have a headache, I take aspirin. If I want to get big and hit the ball far, I take steroids.

Another point is, why should we believe "A-Rod", or, "A-Hole, as I like to call him? He's lied once before about taking drugs, why should we assume he is telling the truth now? The man has not one single ounce of integrity or believability in him. All he cares about are his stats and his money. If he really cared about winning, he wouldn't have signed that monster contract with an atrocious Texas Ranger team. If he cared about winning, he might have renegotiated it after he saw how hamstrung the club was after signing him. If he cared about the game he would not have "opted out" of his Yankee contract, right in the middle of the 2007 World Series, attempting to take baseball's brightest spotlight off of the Fall Classic and put it squarely on himself..

Now, I do not want to be one of those guys who says, "back in the day", but it's true, guys from the past did not need this "junk" to get by. Did Henry Aaron need steroids? What about Willie Mays? Heck let's just look at Jim Rice. The writers took forever to put him in the Hall of Fame because he did not have the magic number of 500 home runs, or even close to it. But what he did do was dominate the American League for a long period one time. He hit 35-40 homers when only real men hit them, not every Punch and Judy hitter.

Alex Rodriguez disgraced himself, his team and his sport when he took illegal substances to try and become a better player. Where I come from that is called cheating and cheaters get asterisks next to their name. We did not put up with Pete Rose disgracing the game. Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa are no longer welcome in MLB, so let's make sure A-Hole gets what he deserves.
