Testimonies: Do you prefer dogs or cats?

Being a pet lover, both dogs and cats have their pros and their cons. Sadly, I don't own pets. But, I know people who do have pets of their own and I have experienced my fair share of training and taking care of and sharing a bond with pets. It's hard to decide whether I like dogs or cats more.

Cats can make you relaxed by rubbing your leg or just by sleeping next to you, and being quiet and independent, they are a good choice for people who don't need so much hassle for training and are on a tight budget. Cats rarely need to go to the vet, so for pet lovers without money, cats are a great choice.

I`ve never known a cat to be so comforting like a dog, however. When I was upset, cats never came up to me and showed me affection. That's only for those who develop a deep bond with your cat, and being so independent, it's hard to achieve such a bond with a cat.

Dogs, on the other hand, are loyal, devoted, and are always looking for exercise. They need your training, your love, your attention. But all these walks, playing and such, are, I believe what creates a deep mutual bond with a dog. I walked my sister's dog all the time and we are closer than I could have ever hoped.

I know why dogs are called "Man's best friend". If you have ever watched the movie "Marley and Me", you'll know what I'm talking about. Although that dog was a pain in the neck, Marley sensed that Jenny was upset when she lost her baby, and he comforted her. It's an amazing bond that people can develop with their pets, isn't it?

For me, I perfer dogs. I love the security and the comfort and the deep, mutual bond that comes with getting one. If you get a big dog, you can feel safe knowing he`s on guard and that nobody can harm you without getting through him first. I feel safest with a dog, and I know that when I get the chance, I will get a dog.

"A dog doesn't care whether you're ugly or dumb, or smart and beautiful. Just give him your heart, and he'll give you yours." Quote from Marley and Me.

Even a cat doesn't care whether you're ugly or dumb, it applies to all pets. Every pet can raise your self-esteem by giving you unconditional love, and love is something needed by all of us. We all look for it, and even if we don't find it in our dates, we can always find it in our pets, so long as we treat them right. How many people do you know that can make you feel special, wanted, needed? Pets do all of it, only asking for love in return. And that is amazing.
