Many people just go day to day never stopping to actually look around and see their surroundings. I was raised to look at everything around me and to be aware. I never realized that not only meant your environment, but also those in your life! Family is one of the many things we as humans take for granted. You expect them to always be there, and the thought that someday they won't is never even a thought! So when they call upon you to just stop in for a visit, you find yourself busy with work or plans previously made. Never for once thinking that just might be the last call you get from them! Not only is it family, but what your past with them holds! When I was a little girl I will always remember going to my Grandparents for summer! Its not so much as a memory as it is the feel of remembering! How the times you spent with them left you feeling! Going to a certain place and remembering how it felt years ago as you were seeing it as a child. Now as an adult you would just about give anything to go back! But how many of us stop and reflect on our yesterdays? There is always work to be done, socializing with friends, your children's sports, and the list just gets bigger! Thats when we get so wrapped up in daily tasks that parents forget what it was like to be a child, young adults forget about simple pleasures found in child hood, and teenagers forget who held them close and dried their tears as a babe! One day the phone rings and it is a cousin you haven't talked to in ten years, telling you, your favorite childhood Uncle has passed. As you hang up the phone, you are thinking to yourself I should have called him back two months ago when he had called me. At his funeral you see family you haven't seen in years! Heck you haven't even thought of them. But seeing them now brings the memories flooding back! It occurs to you then that the last time you saw them was at another funeral. My Mom passed away in 2007, and although I knew it was coming, I still wasn't ready to let go! Up until that point I don't think I really ever appreciated the memories she gave to me. The laughter she brought, and the sunshine that never failed to follow her where ever she went. While somethings in life are more apparent than others, the important things are often overlooked! Everyday is a gift given and from there we make the most of it, we make the decision to take it in or just let it be another day! Look around every day and there before you will be something beautiful! It may not be big, but it will be there!
