I have always been raised by two beautiful people that have allowed me to think and feel for myself. As a child, my parents never forced religion on me and pretty much allowed me to attend any church I wanted with my friends whenever I was invited (with the exclusion of once when I was invited to The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses and my ever-so-loving-father told me to do what I wanted but he'd really rather I not go.) I have always looked for religion in so many places- in books, on TV, in churches, within my friends and others around me, and, most importantly, within myself. Needless to say, I've never quite found what I've been looking for.
I'm sure, actually, I'm absolutely positive, that whoever reads this has their own distinctive views on society and religion and are very comfortable in their belief system. I'm also quite certain that anyone who reads this will disagree with me either entirely or at least partially. I'm completely fine with that.
I have lived my life with the belief that there is a/ are god(s) or God. I have searched 20+ years to find evidence of such being(s). I know, I know, some of you are saying, "everything around you is evidence of god," or "faith needs no evidence." Yeah, I get it and I've already thought that myself. However, isn't there something that I should have found in my years of searching that should point me into the right direction? Isn't there something that should awaken my senses and tell me what path to tread? Maybe there has been things and I've ignored them, or maybe not. No one can ever be certain.
So, what do you believe?
Let's try a little roll playing... Imagine yourself driving home from work or school. You're headed down your normal route that you've seen everyday and the scenery provides nothing new to offer you. As you're driving, you see something sitting perched on a road sign. It's a beautiful red cardinal. You glance at it for only a split second. Your eyes go back to the road and before you can react, a semi slams into the passenger side of your car. You didn't have time to see or react to it; the semi just couldn't stop in time for whatever reason when he was coming down a side road and sent your vehicle into a mind and body jarring roll. Your car topples over and over sideways across the oncoming traffic lane and down a deep incline of a ditch. The rolling stops and you've opened your eyes to smoke and dust and you realized the car is on it's top. It's crushed you in, the seat belt has pinned
