What are some essential first aid kit supplies for your house? There are a few common things that you will need just in case anything happens to anyone while at your home. Life is busy, and things can happen at any time, and some injuries are common enough that you might want some first aid essentials handy. When a kid scrapes a knee, or someone gets a bee sting, you are going to want these things in your first aid kit. So what do you need the most?

A couple of the most essential items that you are going to want in your first aid kit are bandages, and some sort of alcohol rub. The rubbing alcohol will disinfect small wounds such as cuts or scrapes. The bandages will do a good job protecting the skin while it heals, and not allowing the cut to be exposed to air, or anything else getting into it. Keeping infection to a minimum is important when treating an injury.

Neosporin is a good thing to keep in a first aid kit. Neosporin is something that you use to help protect yourself from getting any infections from cuts or scrapes. Neosporin is so popular that some bandages come with it already in the bandage. Get the neosporin ready, and you will be able to keep the damage from any cuts down, and help them heal a couple of days faster as well.

Gauze is good for a first aid kit, and an ice pack can be very useful as well. Gauze will be good in case someone has a major cut, or has a wound that may be bleeding more than just a little bit. If you have to wait for an ambulance, or take someone to the hospital, having gauze can help stop bleeding. Ice packs are good for the containing of any swelling that might occur after a hit to the head, a bee sting, or a twisted ankle.

If you can have some sort of a splint, or anything that would stabalize a broken bone, that would be a major help. It might be a little bit lower on the essential list, but if it ever comes up, you will be glad that you have something like that to help you out. There is never too much you can carry in a first aid kit, especially if you have kids around.

The essentials for a first aid kit haven't changed much throughout the years. You want your bandages, gauze and other things that will help stop any minor injuries. Keeping down any swelling, and keeping bleeding and infections to a minimum will always help no matter how bad the injury might be. Just make sure you are able to either treat the injury, or have enough in it to hold on until more help can arrive.
