A book by one of the most lovable historical romance writer, Jude Deveraux, The Princess, is one of the books you would not want to miss. Romance coupled with political issues, this book will surely captivate the readers heart.

The heroine, Aria, is a beautiful yet arrogant princess from the country of Lanconia. A true blooded royalty and the next in line for the throne, she is a little stiff and spoiled. She was sent to America to sell the vanadium to help her dying country. But in America, she was kidnapped and might be killed if not saved by Lieutenant JT Montgomery.

The hero, Lieutenant JT Montgomery, came from a rich and prominent Montgomery family of Warbrooke shipping, Followers of Jude Deveraux know about this family whose lineage came from royalties as far back as the medieval times. It is while recuperating and resting on his island that JT saw two men shooting at Aria, who unknown to him, was the kidnapped Princess of Lanconia.

Their time alone on the island was a riot, with Aria acting as a spoiled and arrogant princess - not eating with her fingers, not allowing others to touch her, not eating together with the commoner, among other things -, and JT insisting on doing things his own way - making Aria clean and cook her own food. It was a relief when JT finally sent Aria off to meet the General who will help her get back to her country.

But, when the American Government decided that the princess' life might still be in danger and that they need to protect her, not only for the vanadium but also because they can make use of Lanconia's strategic location to build military posts, they agreed that Aria needs to be 'americanized' and have an American husband beside her, for them to know who was trying to kill her. And who would fit the role of the husband better than JT Montgomery?

Readers will surely fall in love with Aria, how she tried her best to keep up and fulfill her role as an American wife, all for the love of her country. To keep her away from danger, and to protect her beloved country, she was trained to act and talk like an American by her husband JT, and falls in love with him in the process. JT, on the other hand, will keep himself from falling in love with Aria, because of her lineage to the throne. Conflicts arises when it was time for Aria to choose between her crown as the Lanconian Queen, or JT, the man she truly loves.

Because of Jude Deveraux' detailed writings, readers will not only fall in love with the characters, but with the old country of Lanconia as well. Read the book, and you will surely know what I mean.
