You were there for her when she had those cancers
Helping her through the treatments and pain
Assuring her, with your unspoken words, to keep on fighting.
You were there for her when she got sick a second time
You helped clean up the damage doctors made by mistake
Barely alive, she held on to your outstretched hand.
You were there for her when she came home with Hospice
With an expiration date of seven days
And you let the seventh day turn into three more years.
You've been there for her and me, God
Giving us more birthdays, holidays and moments together
Giving us a chance to know each other better than we ever knew before.
But it seems lately, that you've been busy on another mission
Mom remains the same; talking, breathing and thinking
But with no significant change.
You've done so much for Mom and I
But we are left wondering whether to expect more
Or be happy with her continued state of who she is now.
I feel selfish to bother you when you've done so much,
But Mom and I aren't done wondering; we need so much to talk.
We need to ask you questions you may not be willing to answer.
We won't take much of your time, beg again for miracles
or question your motives
I just need to know if we should keep pressing on
Or leave the rest to you
Will I be needing soon to prepare for her goodbye
Or continue wondering when or if she'll be taken
I just need some kind of sign but you haven't answered me
Please tell me

It's said God's compassionate,
he is merciful as well,
which begs the question,
why would he create hell.
