What are the best gifts you can bestow on your child?

The best things you can give to your child do not have a price tag attached. As a single mother of three, I have found the best thing I can bestow upon my children is unconditional love. If one of my children were asked "Would your Mom still love you if.." The reply would be without hesitation "Yes". I try to understand my kids and where they are coming from, instead of expecting them to be a mini version of me! I do not judge them, but I still set the boundaries and make sure they are well aware of it! A parent must instill values in their children, letting them run wild and doing as they please is not part of parenting.

Children require direction, and guidance. Without it they feel the loss and question whether their parent loves them or not! Praise your children let them know you are proud, expecting a child to just understand you love them is not going to do it. I have seen children criticized by their parents, and the look of failure etches it way across the child's face, is a look I never want to see on my children's face. Place your children first. A child does not understand waiting so don't make them. If you promise your child something, or that you will take them somewhere do it.

If something major comes up, and you can without a doubt, not avoid prolonging your promise, be prepared to make it up as soon as you possibly can. Keep in mind to a child this is their world, we reside in it. Be honest with your children, not to the point of being ridiculous, but if they ask you how you feel about something answer them truthfully. This will teach them to be honest with others including yourself. Know your child, take time to hear their thoughts, and I mean really listen. Getting to know your child shows them that you will understand when no one else will! Take part in their lives, and be their biggest fan.

When you get involved in their activities not only are you getting to know your kid better, but they get a chance to know you! I am just a Mom but my kids will always be my biggest achievement in life! From the moment they were born I knew they were an individual, and I had to help them find their way through just being there and loving them, all the while providing guidance, and understanding, The smallest things can amount to bigger things down the line! Most importantly never let them down, be there for the big events in their life, and the smaller events in life! From birth to adulthood keep your bond strong, and yes continue to praise them, because they will never stop being your child! That is the best gift to bestow on your child.
