Poetry: My day of rest

by Kathleen Richardson

Created on: June 28, 2009   Last Updated: August 06, 2010

My day of rest eludes me

Body and mind beg to take a break

I'd rather exercise hours at the gym

Than chase kids till I begin to shake.

*

My day of rest is planned

Their dad says I deserve some peace

I'll settle with Starbucks coffee in my hand

Will that make my shakes increase?

*

My day of rest has come

Little ones cry and beg

Momma, take me with you

And grip me tightly round each leg.
