Marketing your music on Myspace is a great way for independent musicians to attract their future audience. Music can be very visual and the first visual that your visitor should see is a neat organized page.

Myspace makes this very simple to do with easy access and explanations of how to best set up the site for you.

What kind of band are you? What image do you project when you perform? Answer these questions and you are ready for your photo shoot.

I believe that a practice photo shoot for bands who are inexperienced in having their photo taken is a good idea. I think that it is a good idea for the experienced to practice facial expressions in the mirror before the shoot. Get everyone together in front of your camera on a tripod and shoot away.

Perhaps you will get the photo you need through the practice shots but more than likely you will need to hire a professional. Once you have chosen the best photo of the band taken by a professional photographer, download the photo on your Myspace site.

Shoot and download some short video clips of live performance totaling up to 8 or 9 minutes.

Gather all of your original music and download it to your Myspace site...select the best one to start automatically and arrange the tunes the way you would like to listen to them... Fast, Medium, Slow

Hire a professional writer or if you have experience write the band biography... what the band can do, a few lines about each member, song list and a diagram of your stage setup would do fine.

All of this information on your site is your official Press/Promo Kit.

Join and link all the sites that you can to your Myspace site. Facebook, Twitter, ReverbNation, MusicNation are a few that you can start with.

There are many Indie FM stations that you can contact by searching with Google. Some of them you may earn money from the number of plays you ring up.

Networking with like minded musicians may also increase traffic to your site. Listen to their music and they will listen to yours. Next thing you know your ranking is higher.

A band blog is a good way to win new fans and create a personal relationship with your audience. Musicians always have great funny stories to share...

Join Music Forums and contribute to their discussions.

Continue to attract friends to your Myspace and interact with all of them. Blogging or a Newsletter is a good way to keep up when your list grows large.

It takes a little work, especially at the beginning, but you will be rewarded with your music playing all over the world.

Once everything is up and going your way continue to do all the techniques you have used to get there.

Good luck...
