There are a great many reasons why Internet writers not only have to be competitive but have to think competitive at all times if they are to know anything like the true limits of their potential success. There are tens of thousands - at least - of Internet writers competing for assignments, page views and even membership of or positions on Websites. If an Internet writer is not therefore as competitive as they can find it within themselves to be, they are likely to get left trailing far behind or even trampled underfoot in the stampede.
The first instance where it is vital for an Internet writer to be competitive is in their mind. They have to focus at all times upon ways in which they are going to better their rivals and competition and secure those page views and assignments. They have to constantly be looking to go one step better than their competitors and be the best in all which they attempt to do and achieve.
The second area in which an Internet writer has to be competitive is in their ability as writers and in the quality of the work they produce. They have to constantly be looking for new and innovative ways in which to produce their articles and original and interesting subjects upon which to write. They have to ensure that the information they include in their articles is interesting for the reader at all times and, above all perhaps, accurate. They should research in depth any subject upon which they do not already consider themselves extremely knowledgeable and ensure that their article may safely and accurately be used a reference point upon the subject in question.
An Internet writer also has to be competitive in choosing the particular markets to which they write. They have to consider how popular the specific Website they intend writing for is. They have to consider how competitive the rewards it offers its writers are in relation to the competition. It is important, however, that the overall reward package be considered, as greater exposure in the long term may prove more beneficial than a short term and one-off financial incentive.
An Internet writer must always bear in mind that the very nature of the craft or career which they have chosen for themselves is an extremely competitive one. If they do not have the right mindset and constantly remain on the lookout to boost their competitive edge over their competitors and fellow Internet writers, they will be extremely unlikely to know the success which they have chosen to strive to achieve.
