Your first date is something that you will absolutely NEVER forget. I have the fondest memory of my first date with Jeffrey. It is so funny that every time I glimpse back I can't help but to laugh. I remember him calling me on my cell phone and asking me if I felt we were ready to meet in person. See, Jeffrey and I actually met on-line through a dating site. Well, when the call came in, I wasn't expecting him to ask me if I was ready to meet him. I hesitated for at least three minutes before I finally agreed to meet him. Needless to say, I was a nervous wreck. I informed my parents that I was taking a leap of fate and going out on a date.
Well, the day had arrived. I was finally going to meet this man that I had been chatting with on the Internet. I decided four hours prior to our meeting that I should start getting ready for my big date. I took a nice hot bath and relaxed because I knew I was going to panic. After my bath, I continued getting ready in my bedroom while listening to country music. I must have changed at least 10 times before I finally decided on an outfit. My hair was a wreck, I was a wreck and I just knew this date was going to be wrecked. We planned on meeting at a Mexican restaurant. Well, when I drove up to the restaurant, I froze. I literally could NOT move. I stood outside and smoked 2 cigarettes while a debate was going on inside my head. To meet him or run ... Which should I do? I felt like a teenager and I was 36 years old. So, I called him on his phone and I ask him where he was. He said he was inside waiting on me. I then explained to him that I was a basket case and I just couldn't make myself come inside. He said, "Well, if you can't come to me, I will come to you.". I was around the corner of the building on my phone with him and wow, there he stood. I tell you my heart skipped at least 5 minutes of beats. Oh my gosh, the sign of relief when he approached me and began talking. He complimented me by telling me how pretty I looked and I just giggled like a little crazy teenage girl. We went inside and ordered our dinner. I started talking to him and literally could NOT shut up. He was just sitting there smiling and paying close attention to me as I was rambling on and on.
After the restaurant, we decided to take a drive and talk some more. Well, he informed me that because of his long drive he had decided to get a motel room. He ask me if I wanted to go there with him so we could be alone and get to know each other further. I agreed! As we walked in his room, he just stared at me. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry I was so nervous. Finally, he kissed me. I tell you, I think I melted when his lips touched mine. We watched a movie and just talked as the night went by. He got very nervous after our kiss and I really didn't understand why, at first. Then he told me. He lost his wife 3 years prior and he felt as if he was cheating on her. I felt so bad. I didn't know what to say to him. So, I just looked at him and kissed him gently. I told him we wouldn't rush into anything. That maybe he just wasn't ready to move on. I remember us laying the the bed holding each other for what seemed to be hours upon hours. It was almost 2 a.m. when Jeffrey told me that he needed to go back home. He couldn't stop thinking about his wife. I understood completely and I respected his decision. When I got back home, I had such an adrenaline rush, I couldn't go to sleep. I laid on my bed until day break thinking about this wonderful man I had just met.
In closing, I married Jeffrey and we are very happy still today. It wasn't an easy road, but in the end it was worth every mile traveled. Still today I look back on our first date we shared and smile
