How to obtain wisdom

The wise ole' owl would say, "Living creates experience therefore experience, good or bad, brings about wisdom." Think about this for a minute. If a toddler touches a hot stove he will think, "whew...that's hot I won't touch that again."

From the moment we are born to the moment we die we gather wisdom. Our living experience brings us that wisdom. There are other ways to obtain wisdom. The most notable ways to become wise is through reading, exploring, being taught, and watching others. Wisdom is truly a fountain spewing forth with many ways in which to drink in wisdom.

Many religions speak about how to obtain wisdom in their respective religious text. The Talmud states: "Who is wise? One who learns from all." Confucius responds by stating, "Three methods we may learn wisdom; First by reflection which is noblest; Second by emulation which is the easiest; Third by experience which is the bitterest." Chinese Proverbs state: "Deep doubts, deep wisdom; small doubts, little wisdom." "The Book of Proverbs of the Holy Bible" is filled with information about how to live a life filled with wisdom.

An excellent way to gain wisdom is to pay attention not to your desires, but develop some patience. For one of the best ways to obtain wisdom is to not make hasty decisions. Hasty decisions become decisions based on your desires. Find out for yourself if you have all the information needed to make decisions or to solve a problem or situation. Understand that quite possibly there may be underlying reasons that have not surfaced that could impact any decision you may make. Read, read, and read. Reading is one of the best ways to glean information which will in turn provide a source of wisdom. Observe, observe and observe some more. Observation of others, and watching how-to shows will bring in more wisdom.

Many times people with prejudices, preconceptions, and an unwillingness to learn, close the door completely shut to gaining wisdom. People who are wise will act. They will be aware of all sensory information as well as other types. Living in the present brings wisdom.

As we have been finding out how to obtain wisdom we have learned that there is not one special thing people can do to obtain wisdom. Wisdom is all around us. Living in the now is one of the best ways to becoming wise. Our job to become wise is to live our life in a conscious manner. Open our hearts and our minds and wisdom will flow into us becoming a part of us.
