How to write a mission statement

et al, 2008). Determining how the mission impacts the hearers when communicated is critical because if the mission statement is too long hearers and readers may be turned off. At this point the mission statement should be in written form and should be communicated to a small control group to get their reactions. Analyzing the reactions will be a good metric to determine if more work need to be done.

Summary

Learning to write an effective mission statement using the framework of orientation, component analysis, communication analysis, and applicability analysis (Cochran et al, 2008) will save you time, save you money, and cut the cost of having to continuously redefine your strategy in the long run. Time spent in developing a concise mission statement that communicate your message in the fewest words will be time well invested and will translate into big savings in the long-term.
