THE LOVE THAT'S IN OUR EYES
Two rocking chairs sit on my Daddy's old front porch,
A fiddle hangs over the mantle.
And his old straw hat rests upon the old oak side board,
That holds so many memories for me.
There's a picture of me in my mother's arms,
And another shows my Dad on his tractor.
But the one that brings me joy is the one with them together,
With love in their eyes so plain to see.
Chorus:
Oh that gentle look between my Daddy and my Mother,
The kind of look that comes from faithful loving,
And it's easy to see as you look at their picture,
They've got that faithful loving in their eyes.
Now we sit together on my Daddy's old front porch,
The kids are playing in the kitchen.
And I just can't help but think, as I hear their happy laughter,
They came right from the love that's in our eyes.
So I'll add our picture to the old oak side board,
The one they took at our wedding.
Where the love in my eyes as you're coming down the aisle
Meets the love in your eyes for only me.
Chorus
Now our kids can see the look between their Daddy and their Mother,
The kind of look that comes from faithful loving,
And one day I hope our kids can look at that picture,
And want the kind of love that's in our eyes.
