Most people who start blogging seem to have a dream of eventually making money with their blog. It sounds like a great thing... getting paid to write. However, most people forget to keep in mind that this should merely be a long-term goal. People who start a blog specifically with the goal of making money with it will usually start very quickly, but then get discouraged when the blog does not make money quickly and give up. But the first tip for making money with a blog is that you must have the knowledge that it will be a long, hard process. You can't make money with a blog overnight, it simply will not happen for you. But it can happen with enough time and hard work. Maybe you won't earn a living out of it and be able to quit your day

job, but it is definitely possible to earn some money blogging.

First, you have to write about something you are passionate about and enjoy writing about. If you're doing that, the blog will be a lot better to read, and your readers will be able to tell whether you are interested in what you're writing about or not. If you are simply going through the motions on a topic that does not interest you at all, then the blog will quickly become burdensome to maintain. It will usually die out quickly, and you won't make any money. It does take a lot of time to be able to build the blog up enough to make any money from it, so it's important to write about something that you can envision writing about on a more long-term basis.

Next, you have to market your blog. One way to do this is to search out other blogs within your niche, and comment on their blogs, link to their blogs, etc. Hopefully this will bring in incoming links or referrals from their blogs, which increases readership. Content is king; but this is a hugely important step. The theory "if you built it, they will come" is not so effective when blogging. If they can't find your blog, you won't have readers, no matter how good the writing is. You have to increase your page rank so that people will be able to come to and find your blog.

Then, the moneymaking methods themselves. There are lots of ways to do this... Adsense, TLA's, Advertising, Affiliates, etc. A little research on the topic and a little experimentation will serve you well in this area. There are lots of potential ways to make money with your blog, but you have to research and find out what will work best for you. There is no clear cut answer there, it is different for everyone.

But really, it's all about creating interesting and valuable content that will make people want to read your blog, and then marketing your blog in different ways. If you do these things, then yes, it is possible to make money from blogging. Maybe you won't be able to retire off of what you make, but anything helps. Any money being made from blogging will give you an enormous sense of accomplishment.
