Women get to make the excuse that they are pregnant and the large piece of cake is justified. This excuse happens as soon as the test results come back positive. We also make promises to ourselves to lose the weight right after the baby is born. Workout plans are planned and diets are promised.
Then, the baby is born. Getting a couple of hours of sleep becomes the norm and you can barely find time to take a shower. Holding your baby while watching T.V. becomes your routine. You get up to get a bottle or change a diaper, but for most of the day you sit with your baby and a bag of potato chips. Once your baby falls asleep you decide to catch up on some sleep.
That's when your husband comes home from work. The laundry isn't done and the dishes are still in the sink and you're asleep in the bed. You get woken up and get teased about how you don't get anything done during the day. That's why it is so difficult getting help from your husband. He tells you how he had to get up and work all day and how you sat around all day. This is how all the chores around the house and all the diaper changes and feedings.
So, now that all the chores and upbringing of your baby is left to you, where does the workout routines and the promised diets come in? They don't. You become a walking zombie barely getting through the day. The exhaustion takes over and quick food replaces the so called diet and exercise becomes carrying laundry down the stairs. Now that the house is clean when your husband gets home, it still doesn't stop the comments about your weight.
Having a baby also changes your sexual relationship with your husband. You are so tired from the lack of sleep and interruptions tend to ruin the mood. Then, when you finally get your baby asleep and you are in the mood. It only takes your husband one time to say no to make you feel terrible about your body image. Showing your body to your husband becomes near torture to your self esteem. All the promises and rants about how your husband doesn't have to worry about you gaining weight becomes an embarrassment.
Women need to realize that losing weight after a baby is not easy. All the pressure that is put on women to lose weight all starts in their head. Cravings during pregnancy are difficult, but if women don't restrict themselves, then they will not be able to have a healthy diet after they have the baby. Women have to realize that having a baby takes so much time out of the day. Having a good diet is the best way to watch your weight right after you have a baby. Once your baby grows older and you have more time in your day you can find the time to incorporate exercise into your days. Your husband may put pressure on you, but keep in mind that it isn't a quick process. Remember, the most important thing is that you take care of your baby.
