Songs: All that really counts

by Karen Young

I met you when I was down

You met me while you were on the road

You were just passing through

I was struggling with a heavy load

We laughed and we talked

enjoying each other's company

Like two ships passing; pausing side by side

If only you could see

what meeting you has meant to me

But all that really counts

is the time that we had together;

how my burden is so much lighter

and my life a whole lot brighter

That's all that really counts...all that really counts

In the short time that we had together

I learned to laugh instead of cry

to hold my head up and not ask why

Life is hard when you walk it alone,

and no one seems to care

But all that really counts

is how you were there

And all that really counts you see

Is how you were there for me

You made my burden so much lighter

and my life a whole lot brighter

And that's what really counts...that's all that really counts
