Poetry: Ignorance

by Jo Anne-Patricia Piccarillo

Created on: June 25, 2009

What happens when you hate life itself?

When nothing makes sense to you anymore?

Everything that actually makes you happy, seems so far away.

And when reached for, just lurks even further.

People stand with such high ignorance that they speak in naive tones.

I often wonder if I disappeared, just for a short while,

if my voice would still be heard?

If my opinions would then matter?

If they would even care?

Though those thoughts scare me, the fact that I know myself this in depth,

scares me even more.

My hatred for life could never again overcome my passion for living it...

Just to see if things would change.

What scares me the most is that if I did leave,

would my wandering mind find its way back?

At times, I think it would.

Though, the more my eyes are subjected to,

the more my ears listen to-

the more I think I would only make silhouette appearances.

THAT is what scares me the most.
