In the Flying Star school of feng shui, time is divided into nine, twenty year periods, creating a one hundred eighty year cycle. The cycle we are in now started in 1864. Each period is characterized by its own symbolism, which dictates the flow of chi or energy, and luck. We are presently in Period Eight, which began on February 4, 2004, and will end on February 3, 2024.
The Flying Star school is one of the traditional schools of feng shui. It is often considered one of the most complex and highly developed, and therefore the most accurate. Flying star works with symbols and placement, but revolves around numerology 'the language of the universe'. The art of feng shui itself was developed over three thousand years ago. The words feng shui literally mean wind and water. The concept behind this ancient science, is giving people a way to find gentle wind and calm water in their lives.
Originally this was to protect people from natural disasters, but the deep symbolism of this goal has struck a chord all the way to the modern world. It is the system of balancing energy and promoting a positive chi flow to benefit the inhabitants of any space. Feng shui has examined the movements of the cosmos with the realities of earth, and then using numbers and symbols, has developed a formula for harnessing lucky energy through the manipulation of one's space.
Feng shui uses a tool called the bagua. The bagua is an octagonal chart linking morals, the elements, life aspirations, colors and directions into a guide for positive living. Period eight is represented by the Ken Trigram of the bagua. This sector has three specific characteristics - earth, youthful energy, and northeast. Combined with the number eight, understanding these aspects will give the seeker a window into how to live life and order space during period eight.
The element earth is strong and favorable during this twenty year period. Anything associated with the earth, and its token colors - light yellow and light brown, bring good fortune. Bringing earth objects into your house, clay pots, stone, or crystals, will all attract lucky energy. To double this energy, find yellow earth objects. On a global scale, the world will turn towards the earth, focusing on its health and well-being more than in other periods.
Anything associated with youthful energy, the young, new endeavors, good health, and happy relationships will do well during period eight. Starting a new business, making spontaneous
