Andy Pugh is a professional footballer that currently plays for Gillingham in League One of English football. Pugh is a product of the Gillingham FC youth system, and as well as impressing for the first team has also enjoyed various different loan spells over the course of the past few seasons.
Pugh made his Gillingham debut in February 2007, and has since gone on to make several further appearances for the first team, coming on as a substitute. The young striker was first loaned out in October 2007, joining Welling United, and there scored two goals in six appearances for the club. Further loan spells would later follow, and Andy Pugh has now successfully spent time on loan at Maidstone United, Folkestone Invicta, and Grays Athletic also.
Pugh was really able to establish himself in the Grays Athletic first team during his time for the club, and he was able to score 7 goals in 17 appearances; a very impressive record, especially for a side that finished 19th in the league.
2008/09 was a real breakthrough season for Andy Pugh, and having proven himself in the Blue Square Premier; it now looks likely that he'll be given a chance to crack the Gillingham first team in the future. He's so far been used sparingly by Gillingham manager Mark Stimson, last season's goal return for Grays should see him rise up the pecking order though, and it's surely only a matter of time before Pugh starts his first game for Gillingham.
Andy Pugh is still only 20 years-old, and there's definitely a lot more to come from the player in the future. Right now he's playing well, he still has a lot to learn though, and there's just no telling how great Andy Pugh can ultimately become.
Gillingham Football Club has some exceptionally talented players in the squad right now, and Andy Pugh is most definitely one of them. Pugh is a player with much potential for the future, and if he continues to improve at the rate that he has been then there's just no telling how brilliant Andy Pugh can become in the future. He's already shown himself to be an excellent striker with Grays, and for Andy Pugh it's now all about making the step up to a higher level, and being able to find the back of the net in League One with Gillingham. Pugh definitely has the potential to play at this level, and in the 2009/10 season it's likely that Mark Stimson will at some point be providing Andy Pugh with the opportunity to show his quality with a starting place in the Gillingham first team.
