Poetry: Dreaming of you

by Monda Mahmoud

Created on: June 24, 2009

A Dream .. of you

Like a dream that's slipping away

Quietly torn to pieces, left to decay

Like a memory once cherished but is going out of hand

I'm losing the only person who can understand

They say who can underestimate the power of a dream

But can it make you stay?

Can it wipe my tears away, after you leave?

All it does is please me at night

Then betray me during the day

Acting like it'll always stay your friend

But when you're sad it just withers away

I'm watching my life turn to misery

& there's nothing I can do

I'm watching your hand slip out of mine

Now who can I turn to?

Out of my life very soon you'll go

Out of sight & gradually out of mind

All that will remain is your memory

& the good feelings you left behind

How powerful is the dream of you

coming back someday,

How powerful is my heart

is it worth the painful memories I hold

But what good is that dream?

All it does is make me cry

When I remember your tenderness

And wonder why ...

you had to say goodbye.
