The Unfinished Letter
She heard the news on the late night radio show
There had been an accident on I-15 and no survivors
In her mind she wanted to deny the feelings of doom
But yet in her heart knew the truth
She had known his plans and had wanted to say stop
She could see the hurt that was so deep healing with her touch
But some wounds never heal and some ghosts never fade
She knew that perhaps he was finding the peace he craved
As she looked at the unfinished letter she could see the words that were yet to be written
Cry no tears pretty lady for you gave me the love of a lifetime in just a few days
Think of yesterday as the questions linger
Just know my life was not meant to be and it was meant to end
As the final curtain falls I will celebrate the sweet memories
For in the end that is all we are left with
