Every day that you leave the house you encounter people you have never met before. Could the man of your dreams be among them? He could. If he is indeed out there somewhere, how do you find him? What must you do to come face-to-face with your Mr. Right?

The first step is to stop fantasizing about him, about what he looks like, about how he will treat you, about how wonderful he will think you are. Those fantasies are nice as long as they stay inside your mind, but when you finally meet your dream man, will he be able to live up to your fantasies? No. He will not measure up to your created image of him and you will be disappointed. It will be all down hill after that.

The next thing you need to do, before you meet the man of your dreams, is figure out that dream. We all watch almost perfect men on television and the movies. They have the near perfect looks, job, bank account, and personality. Whatever flaws exist in this man are minor, loveable things he will certainly change if he just found the right person. You imagine yourself as the right person. The problem with this guy is that he is not real and you will never find a man like him.

Ask yourself what you want in a man. You may be attracted to bad boys, but is the bad boy the guy you want to grow old with? Do you secretly believe you can change a bad boy? If so, then it's probably not that guy you really want. You are attracted to the danger of forbidden fruit, but once he's yours, then what? You will eventually want the bad boy to morph into a good boy who is devoted only to you. What a waste of time and energy.

Take a good look at yourself. Find out what you like and dislike. Make a list of wants and needs. Something you want may not be a part of his package, but you can get past it. If it's something you need, it might not be so easy to overlook, especially in a long-term relationship. For example, do you need a man who is spends all of his time with you, or do you want someone who gives you space. Even the little things are important in finding the man of your dreams, so don't feel bad if you absolutely cannot abide a man who does not put the toilet seat down. If that is something that makes you angry, and you can't get past it, then put it on your list of no-no's. Each of us has something that may seem minor to others but is monumental to us. Make it easier on yourself by finding a man who meets your needs.

With list in hand, it is time to start the serious work of finding your perfect guy. This part is easier now that you know what to look for. Just do what has always been done. Go to places where you can meet men. That may be a night club, or it may be a country club. Find the places your kind of guy will likely frequent. You can also go online. If you haven't already stepped into the world of cyber dating, give it a try. Of course, you can ask friends and family to introduce you to someone. The point it to put yourself in a position to meet that perfect man. Since he won't magically show up at your door then you will have to go looking for him. Hard work, but won't it all be worth it when you find that true man of your dreams?
