How to read body language

Learning how to read body language is very important, both in dating, and in general. Body language comprises most of what we say and do not say, so figuring out what a person is indicating is a very important tool to possess. In society, body language is a social dance that we are all involved in, whether we know it or not. Understanding the hidden meanings behind a person's body language can be quite the boon when you are around other people.

Non-verbal communication is a vital piece of weaponry in the dating world. Reading body language is not as simple as it may appear, as there are so many tiny subtleties that are interwoven, that a skilled reader can easily be thrown for a loop. When you are trying to figure out someone else's thoughts, particularly if they are interested in you in a dating capacity, then you must become adept at looking for the telltale clues.

Body language can tell a fancier tale than words. People tend to freeze up, and become nervous when the are around a potential dating partner. Depending on what signs you are conveying, your actual aim may be misconstrued. The eyes have it when it comes to reading body language. The eyes will either pull you closer, or cast you off into the distance. When we become interested, our pupils will actually dilate, almost as if to try and pull in all that we can muster. A fixed gaze might be tricky to figure. Darting eyes is a sign of disinterest.

Communications are constantly misunderstood, and in the case of body language, they are misunderstood far too often. Reading body language is a complex chore, and it involves an understanding of the propensity human beings have towards non-verbal communication as a means of getting their true point across.

Reading body language is an art form. The Behavioural Analysis Unit of the FBI employs this tactic when trying to ascertain the identity of a criminal. Our bodies react differently when we are telling the truth and when we are lying. Our eyes will shift to one side when recounting something memorable, and to the other side when we are making up something. Without being skilled in the art, you must learn to pick up quickly on a few little motions.

Trying to read body language can be difficult, but with a little bit of practice, it can become a smidgen easier. In certain settings, a person may also be uncomfortable or stressed, which may cause their body language to be askew.
