Heaven is surely the most sought-after place for all believers in the Bible and many of those who has just heard of it. We have some guidelines on what heaven is like in the Bible. I won't go through the stereotypes of heaven, but go directly to the picture that unfolds if you consider all the criteria mentioned in all the relevant sources.
It will be a place of weightlessness. Why? Because we will have spiritual bodies, unchained to all the effects this earth has on us and therefore we won't need any gravity to pull us down to safe 'ground'. That means we will never suffer sore feet from long walks. Better still, we won't have to walk. We will be - in today's language - teleported to the place or person where we want to be, in an instant, regardless the distance.
Distance is not a factor in the spiritual world. Like dreams and imagination, we would be able to go to a desired place as quick as our imagination can do it. Weightlessness also means there will be no heights to be afraid of and no falling and hurting. We might even be able to fly when we want to. Of course not like the little stereotypical angels on the clouds, but through our weightlessness.
Then, of course, there will be no pain. Spiritual bodies are fail-safe and do not posses anything that can go corrupt or that can degenerate. No headaches, migraines, spasms, soreness, growths or anything unpleasant that we experience on earth. There will be no discomfort. That means, of course, no medicines or tranquilizers necessary. There is nothing that can break, like bones. In short, nothing that can be the source of pain or discomfort.
There will be perfect peace, because the one that took away our peace on earth, the devil, won't be there, nor any of his followers who make life unbearable for others here on earth. That means no deceit, backbiting, lying, stealing, murder, malice, conspiring, jealousy, hate or any such thing we experience currently here on earth. It means no wars or fights
There will be no marriage, because it will be useless. Nothing exists in heaven that necessitates marriage. No procreation or anything that can facilitate it. None of the negative forces or circumstances that make it necessary for us to go into partnership with someone else to make life on earth more bearable, manageable or pleasurable. The pleasure of heaven is of such magnitude that we won't be able to handle it with our earthly bodies. If sex is viewed as the ultimate in pleasure on earth, then sex in heaven would be regarded as an utter waste of time and effort, if it was possible, because of the enormous bliss that will be experienced in heaven. That is why we will receive special bodies for heaven, because of the limits and frailties of our current ones.
There will be no theft in heaven, because we won't have to own anything. Money would be useless, because if you really want to eat with your immortal body, then food will be in abundance. Fruit trees will never stop bearing fruit. Everything we need will be there in abundance for everyone to enjoy, for free. No circumstances exist in heaven that necessitates us to work and earn money. That does not necessarily mean that we won't work at all, and if need be, then it won't tire us in any way.
All these things, and many more that can be talked about in volumes, may seem logical to some, but if we take time and ponder on these things, then we may reconsider our current goals on earth and hone into the eternal destiny and the way to get there. May we all make the perfect choice while we still have the chance.
