A guide to the Virginia Beach Farmers Market

If you're between ages 5 to 99, and you can spit seeds or roll a melon, you're welcome to enter.

For anyone who loves listening to country or bluegrass music, Friday nights (May to October, 7:00 pm to10:00 pm) is the popular Friday Night Hoedown at the market. There's no charge to attend the event - all you need is a chair to just sit and relax and enjoy the music.

If you're planning an outdoors function (family reunion, birthday party, exhibition, picnic) the market will rent space for these events. There's more than ample parking for the family van, buses, and RV's for the entire group. The large, green space has plenty of picnic tables and play areas for the kids to roam about.

And speaking of kids, the market offers programs for kids in kindergarten through to grade 2. The program, available twice a year, engages students to actively participate in growing their own fresh herbs and vegetables. And, of course, kids are more likely to eat vegetables if they grow it themselves. Fees for the programs are reasonably priced at $3.00.

If you're looking for locally grown, organic food, the Virginia Beach Farmers Market provides one-stop shopping. Or perhaps you want interesting fun where everyone can participate; the market is also the place to be. You can find the market at:
