The Fruit Gum Tree
The fruit gum tree got its name
from a nosy person lookin' for fame.
He looked at the tree and what did he see
hanging with the leaves on the fruit gum tree?
Now the fruit gum tree came to be
by eating all the bees flyin' around the tree.
The honey bees that fed the tree
made fruity gum drops so abundantly.
The more he ate, the more he grew.
So he started to look for something new.
The man who gave the tree its name
came back to the tree and to his shame.
He took a seat and began to eat
the yummy gum drops that tasted so sweet.
The fruit tree asked "Why did you snack
on those tiny little fruit drops on my back"?
The man said "No, I do not know.
Why do you accuse me unjustly so"?
The Fruit gum tree said "Look up at me
where those tiny fruit drops used to be".
The fruit drops cried as you took them down.
And my smiling face turned into a frown.
The fruit gum tree looked deliciously
at the man who ate the fruit drops so eagerly.
The happy tree said "Yummy yum yum"
as the man swam 'round his tummy tum tum.
The fruit gum tree was no longer sad
when he saw his branches and what he had.
He smiled once more and began to adore.
A thousand fruit drops more than he had before.
So now you know and just ask me please.
Before you pick those fruit drops off my leaves.
The fruit gum tree loves to eat those bees.
And those who eat his fruit drops without asking please.
