Poetry: Angels

by Lyricly Stout

Created on: February 04, 2007   Last Updated: May 14, 2007

I can't sleep, I'm restless and wired.

My thoughts run too deep. They hold

and control me, keep me from rest,

too much hate, too much anger, angst and distress.

We are blessed right?

This hunger, this thirst, this search for self

worth, this gift in a curse, this maze in my mind,

this flesh that confines, this limit, this free will,

the concept of time, the voice that we hear

the choice to adhere or rather the choice to

ignore, this love and distrust, this lust and

disgust, the want and desire for more, this

pleasure, this pain, this double edged knife,

this music that calls me, enthralls me, my

essence and light, our motion, this ocean,

this passion for peace, this fight for the right,

this sun, this moon, this tomb and this womb,

these words and this life.

I question the meaning, the purpose we miss,

the mistakes that we make carefree and careless,

the taste and the touch we overlook yet embellish,

our power forgotten so longed for and relished

this struggle we suffer that holds angels jealous.
