The Federal Government seems to want control of every industry and everything else as well. From the banking and financial industries to health care and automakers; next up TOBACCO. Once again the government is over stepping its boundaries by over regulating a commodity that was actually grown and used by the very same men that founded this great nation. For decades the Surgeon Generals of several administrations have issued these warnings, and America is not completely stupid. We have known for years that tobacco products are harmful, but by choice (great to be in a free society) millions of "Americans" choose to light up. Congress and President Obama feels that we "Americans" need these facts simplified and less confusing, why not just classify cigarettes and other tobacco products as toxic; along with alcohol, chocolate, sugar, and any other pleasantries that we may over indulge in and ban them all. Is that what this nation is coming to?

More regulation means there will be increase in cost in order to function at a competitive levels and abide by the governments every whimper. This increase in the cost to provide over regulated products will only be passed on down the line to the consumer, in essence the average American citizen. We need the cost of things to go down a little. Today, a gallon of milk goes for around three to four dollars; ten years ago a gallon of milk was half that! A gallon of gas in 1998 where I live was around a dollar and twenty-three; today we are near three bucks and rising, over regulating and over taxation inflates cost. What is going to happen to the already over taxed and expensive cost of tobacco? It most surely is going out the roof and into the atmosphere.

Each and every American should be watching the actions of Obama and Congress and take in account that the over regulation of America and the growing of government is the road they intend to take this nation. Pretty soon it will not be safe to walk down the street on the simple basis that when one cannot afford a habit, one will steal for a habit. The government is in fact making the economy and the state of the nation become further crippled. Congress and the President should put more regulations on their spending packages and pork-barrel projects, as well as trying to shrink government and not grow it. Let the FDA continue to make sure my food is safe to eat and not hinder them with baby-sitting the tobacco industry, by the way isn't there an agency that already has tobacco on it's plate (ATF). Man don't you just love the way Washington is looking out for us..
