Powell River, located on the West Coast of British Columbia, Canada is an excellent travel destination for those wanting some wilderness adventure and a getaway from the city life. The temperature is mild all year round and there are plenty of things to see and do while on vacation in this great town. In addition to outdoor adventures, Powell River offers many places to dine with friends, and family.

The Shinglemill Pub and Bistro

Located on the edge of beautiful Powell lake, The Shinglemilll Pub and Bistro offers both traditional pub fare, and more exotic creations in the upstairs bistro. There is even an outdoor patio area overlooking the water for dining during the warmer months of the year. The pub offers a casual atmosphere with great hamburgers and sandwiches. During the week you will find many specials including a prime rib dinner special. The bistro upstairs serves more elaborate dishes and currently features Mexican and Italian food as well as other delights. The Shinglemilll is usually very busy on the weekends so you might want to make a reservation or come early for your meal. It makes a great place to eat after boating, or hiking through the many mountain trails.

The Savory Bight

This restaurant is located by the waterfront at the Beach Gardens Resort Hotel. You get a beautiful view of the ocean and surrounding islands from this establishment. You can even get a good breakfast here if you are stopping by or staying at the hotel. I recently had a meal here with family and the service was excellent, with one of the best steaks I have had in a long time. There is also a pub areas in the restaurant if you just want to grab a quick drink. Tables can be found outside and with such a great view it makes for a tantalizing dining experience.

Vietnam Cuisine

Located in the heart of the town near the main mall, the restaurant simply called Vietnam Cuisine serves food that will make your mouth water. The Vietnam dishes served here are served fast, hot, and full of flavor. The service is perhaps some of the best I have ever encountered in a restaurant of any description. From the time you sit down, till your meal arrives is literally counted in mere minutes. Even if the place is packed it only takes ten to twenty minutes maximum to receive your food. You even get a complimentary appetizer as you wait for your meal. Vietnam food is normally spicy so there is a heat scale from one to five.
