Why Make Your Own Father's Day Card?

Father's Day is a time of parties and merriment with family and friends. It is an occasion that takes place every year. Gift and card giving is part of this fun celebration. Any one can easily go to the store and buy a card for the Father's Day, but this is impersonal. Think how nice it would be to get a card designed and created just for Father's Day. You can make a handmade Father's Day card to give. A card made by hand can be customized purposely for the special dad. There are many things you can use and various ways to go about accomplishing this.

Use Fancy or Colored Paper

There are many types of paper to choose from. Check out the local stationary, office supply and hobby stores. Some types of paper you can use include: colored construction paper, colored printer paper, poster board, card stock, photo proofing or photo paper and other specialty type papers. Use this paper to form the card. Cut it into different shapes and sizes or use the typical rectangular layout.

Make the Father's Day Card Personal

Come up with an idea of what you want the card to look like. Match the personality of the person to the parts of it. Use the favorite color, animal, flower, theme, car or alike in the design of the Father's Day card. Find pictures of these objects or actual pictures of the person too. Cut up and place these pictures on the card.

Include Fancy Lettering

The wording on the card can be handwritten, if you desire. Another way to insert it requires using the many various fonts available in most word processing applications to write it. Type your message on paper. Cut this out and glue it on the card. You can also use stencils found in hobby or office supply stores to make the Father's Day card cover and inside verse.

Add Finishing Touches

Use things to add a special feel to the card. This includes glitter, stickers, colored markers, crayons, paint, materials or other items that fit the design of the card or the recipient. Examples of this include flowers, ribbons, lace, gems, stones and other objects. Include these on the Father's Day card. Place these items on the card in various places. Outline the wording with glitter, add stickers all around and incorporate bright colors into the Father's Day card. Use items that are around the house or go to craft stores to find some. Either make or purchase an envelope for your Father's Day card, if you like.
