of disappearing desire and interest in sex. The cause is the same drop in hormone levels (estrogen, progesterone and androgens). Vaginal dryness caused by hormonal changes also adds to the loss of sexual drive since sex can become unpleasant due to limited lubrication.

Mood swings include irritability, being too emotional up to unexplained tears, depression, anxiety, extreme moods, and aggression, to name a few. All those symptoms are caused by changing levels of estrogen which controls the production of neurotransmitters which are responsible for cognitive functions of the brain. The menopause is a gradual process which may last from 2 to 10 years and symptoms may vary from light to severe. Talking to your doctor will help to determine what medical help is available for you. Keep in mind that there are also some lifestyle changes and non-traditional types of healing (acupuncture, yoga and herbal supplements) which can be quite helpful. Most of all, remember that menopause is a temporary and natural occurrence in every woman's life.
