Poetry: Emotions

by Jhenna Matheson

Created on: June 22, 2009

Ignis

I stand unaffected by the flame

Untouched by fire

Unwilling to feel the burn

I watch the flickering light

And extend a trembling hand

But not to touch

Only the promise of warmth

Dances against outstretched digits

Do I dare venture forth

An invitation of orange

A crackling summons

Confusing my resolve

Cold is my companion

A numbing retreat

But I am lost

And alone

Too long I have wandered

In the absence of heat

A choice must be made

To rekindle my soul

My hand reaches forward

Fingers searing with pain

I am burned

I am in pain

I am alive
