Some say that multitasking allows us to screw a lot of different things at the same time. I say, if you are going to do multiple tasks at the same time, you should make sure that you can handle them well, otherwise you'll never be able to attain the result you want.
Multitasking is never an easy job. Considering that you have to put you focus simultaneously on different tasks that you have been doing, hoping that a positive result will be obtained.
I am used to multitasking and I can say that I am doing the job well. I used to work in bank and had been assigned with a lot of responsibilities. I have been trained in all aspects of its operation, starting from the new accounts, tellering, loans, accounting and cashiering. So whenever, they will need people, in any of those positions I have mentioned, they can easily pull me out. I do reports, such as loan billings, posting of remittances, generation of remittances to different government agencies and I also do some of the book postings in the Accounting Department. I can really say that the job was exhausting in the sense that you have to beat your deadlines, otherwise penalties would come in. I have come to the point where in I feel that a day is never enough for me to be able to finish what I'm suppose to accomplish. There are times when I do loan computations at home. Yes, you really have to do the extra mile, otherwise you'll never be able to submit your report on time. And mind you, those reports are crucial since they would involve the operation of the bank, so I have to constantly check for errors, just to make sure that what I'm submitting is correct.
Presently, I worked as a call center agent, a technical support engineer. The job requires multitasking too. You have to listen and understand what your guests are telling you. You have to take the gist of the issue, and at the same time you are taking note of every information that the guest would give you so you'll be able to trace everything in the system, and you'll be able to generate a ticket which is understandable by everybody. And you have to do and finish the call and the ticketing at same time. I mean, it is easy to listen and write. But understanding what has been said to you, generating solutions to all of their issues isn't that easy. You have to be ready with different options in case option 1 doesn't work. You can't just put your guest on hold forever as you look for solutions.
Doing a lot of work at the same isn't that simple. You have to start within you. You have to condition yourself so that you will not be complaining that too much responsibility has been given to you. It is your job, you have to love it, and then do your best to excel at it. Stop whining and complaining. Do the extra mile if you have to. Later on, your efforts will not be wasted. Your bosses will take notice of you and your work. They could either promote or demote you base on the result of what you have been doing in those specific job assigned to you. Just keep focus and understand what your doing. Later on, you'll get use to it and everything is not as difficult as you think it is.
