Affiliate marketing is an effective way to earn extra money, because affiliate commission is paid for generating new leads that result in product sales, new customers who sign up for services, or new recruits into programs.

There are no upfront expenses involved in affiliate marketing. There is no need to produce your own products or to provide any direct service to your customers. Payment processing and fulfilling orders remains the responsibility of the merchant, not those involved in affiliate marketing.

Before starting in affiliate marketing, it is necessary to decide which services, programs and type of product will earn you a large amount of affiliate commission. Select a few quality products, for which there is a demand, and that can be marketed easily.

* Use search engine optimization and keywords to increase traffic to your marketing sites. This will generate extra money in affiliate sales commission. You need to know some basic SEO techniques to gain a good page ranking for your marketing blog, web content and promotional articles.

* Try article marketing, as a free and highly effective way of generating extra income from affiliate sales. Your marketing link appears in a resource box each time one of your articles is published at one of the free online article directories, and when it is used in an email newsletter or published in an e-zine. Marketing articles drive traffic to the link shown at the end, by providing the information your prospects are seeking.

Affiliate marketing is not a quick money making opportunity. It is an ongoing profitable business. Many people want to try affiliate marketing to earn extra money, but those who want to earn money as fast as possible often become impatient and soon quit.

An affiliate who is willing to persevere with some effective Internet marketing can soon be earning extra money. If you are determined to become an expert in affiliate marketing, and you stick with it, you can succeed in making a lot of money.
