You can save money on furniture when you know exactly why you want a particular piece of furniture, what kind of material you want, and how long you want the furniture to last.

If you intend to renovate the house in five years' time, and change the country style dcor to a modernistic look, you should not buy a brand new dining set made of solid wood. It is a waste of money, since you know that this dinning set will not fit in with the new dcor you have in mind.

It is a waste of money to fall in love with some displayed furniture in the shop, and find that you do not have the place for it in your house.

The furniture at five stars hotel are very classy, and make from good material. It is worth to hunt for sales. If you live near a shipyard, you can keep a lookout on the renovation of cruise liners. A major renovation of cruise liner means you can pick up the good quality furniture at very low price.

If you want to buy new furniture, you can buy the display set. The display set will have a lower selling price than the rest.

Another cheaper way to get new furniture is to buy the DIY set, and do it yourself. However, you have to consider the value of your time, and your carpentry skill. Some people are good at hands, and some are not. If you are not good with carpentry, and not even good at making dollhouse, DIY is not a wise choice.

Ironically, at a time when bankruptcy rate is at all time high, you can get high quality furniture at low price. Even the rich guys, ultra-rich guys, are affected by the recession. Go to any auction house, and bid for the rare and collectible items, including the furniture that you yearn for.

Furniture is not cheap. You can save money on furniture when you buy only what you want. By following the tips above, you will save money on furniture while getting the furniture that makes life enjoyable for you.
