7 myths about nightclubs:
Myth: Bad girls go to nightclubs and I am/want a good girl
That's as good as saying nobody in L.A. has bad breath. I have been clubbing for quite some time now and contrary to what most people think, you do find a lot of normal people in nightclubs. It's true that one out of every 1000thgirl you bump into wants to grab your fat wallet (if it's fat) and take you for a ride, but hey that's not the norm. Certainly not.
Myth: I will end up in bed with a jerk I don't know
Surely, with all those incidents making news headlines every other day, I cannot blame you for being worried over this. But let me tell you this. These events are far less frequent than what the media has you believe. You read about it so often because the news-guys know what makes their papers sell. Got it? On the other hand, don't leave your drink unattended.
Myth: People act weird and crazy in nightclubs
Yeah. Some times. Just gets used to it.
Myth: I will get into a fight and break my nose
Fight? It's a Nightclub, not a Fightclub dude. The whole concept of fighting for a girl simply doesn't happen anymore outside Errol Flynn movies. It's not cool any more, understand? The worst you can get is maybe somebody will show you the finger. (That's my personal worst experience). But common, you get that on the freeways too, you know it's no big deal.
Myth: I am tool old /too young, too whatever
Now, that's got to be the lamest excuse to sit on your couch and watch Seinfeld.Unless you live in a really small town, most cities in (North America at least) have nightclubs open to every age group and every social strata. This really is a great equalizer. I am a recently immigrated guy who moved from India and if I can find something to suit my tastes, anybody can. Just keep your heart open. Do not pre-judge.
Myth: I will look like an idiot because I can't dance
Well, I believe you on this one. Because I could not dance and I did look like an idiot. What else do you expect from a 9 5 computer programmer? I was a nerd, arthritic, glasses the whole deal ok?But hey, I got over that and now I can bust out a few cool moves(which leads to lots of interesting things.if you know what I mean)
Myth: My friends will make fun of me when they hear what I am upto
Well, that is actually a blessing in disguise. Want to know why? Because to be happy doing what we want to do, we need to let go of our need for constant peer approval. There is no beating this rule unless you are extremely fortunate to have friends that always encourage you to be a better person. Your friends will make fun of you, but after you show them a few pictures of what you have been doing, they are going to buy you free drinks. Promise.
Myth: They guys are all jer*$ and the girls are all bitc*$
Ok..stop right there. Saying all computer programmers are nerds with hairy asses is probably closer to the truth. The point is, like I said, people that have never been to clubs make this kind of judgments based on what they read in papers and see on tv.Don't trust these sources. Get out there and experience for yourself. Trust me, you are missing out on something very beautiful.
See you on the dance floor.
