This is without a doubt, a rhetorical question. How can any one know the mind of God in any form, unless they have studied the Holy Bible and received the gift of the Holy Ghost, which leads us in revelation knowledge? If sin and grace were truly understood, this question would be moot. Now that I got that off my chest, let's move on.
But if I had to choose I would answer, the sin of pride. Pride I would say, and this can be argued, is the root of all the other so-called sins. It was the sin of pride, which led to jealousy and Envy, that got Satan, known then as Lucifer, kicked out of Heaven. The scriptures tell us in Proverbs 16:18 Pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall. But the big one is in 1 John 2 that all that is in the world-the lust of the flesh [craving for sensual gratification] and the lust of the eyes [greedy longings of the mind] and the pride of life [assurance in one's own resources or in the stability of earthly things]-these do not come from the Father but are from the world [itself]. This scripture is pretty much self explanatory. This is why I would choose Pride. I assume that we are trying to please God not upset him, so if we are prideful, we displease God. James 4:6 But He gives us more and more grace (power of the Holy Spirit, to meet this evil tendency and all others fully). That is why He says, God sets Himself against the proud and haughty, but gives grace [continually] to the lowly (those who are humble enough to receive it). Let's look at the so-called list of the seven deadly sins as it was brought forth by a Catholic priest many, many years ago. We have Pride, Avarice, Envy, Wrath, Lust, Gluttony and Sloth. Of course this is not a new list, because the Bible already listed these sins or works of the flesh in Galatians 5:19 Now the doings (practices) of the flesh are clear (obvious): they are immorality, impurity, indecency, 20Idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, anger (ill temper), selfishness, divisions (dissensions), party spirit (factions, sects with peculiar opinions, heresies), 21Envy, drunkenness, carousing, and the like. I warn you beforehand, just as I did previously, that those who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. (I guess that is why they are called deadly.)
Every single Human on this planet has had to deal with these issues. None are immune. They have been passed down from generation to generation ever sense the fall of Adam and Eve. That is why psalms 51:5 tells
