A garden is the most lovely place to sit, ponder and relax that I know of. Decorative touches are like the icing on a cake. They will make your garden a comfortable and appealing place. There are many ways to make this happen. A lot of things are modern ,some of them are old school.
Let's start with landscaping to add a decorative touch. Colorful flowering plants such as roses, lavender, climbing Jasmine, crepe myrtle are good choices. The aroma from these plants can be quite soothing to the soul. Green tropical plants make for a nice green environment also. Some of these can give out a jungle like effect. Elephant ears, banana trees or miniature palms are tropical and easy to care for.
A brick walkway is a nice decorative way to keep your feet clean and dry. Make it out of red brick and let it wind and curve for an interesting effort. You could plant some small shrubs on either side of the walkway. Let it take your steps into the garden area. End up by a delightful pond or fountain.
A water fountain is a really nice feature. You can set up one easily by using a large pot, add a pump, rocks and some green aquatic growing plants. A LED light set up to shine on the water can really set it off at night. The flowing water is beautiful and relaxing. Some goldfish can be added to the water in the pot if desired. Maybe even use a large clear one to see the fish swimming.
Bird lovers can make or buy a attractive wonderful birdhouse. There are ones that can hang from a tree. Some sit on top of a stand. Put in some bird seed, those beautiful song birds will stop by your garden.
Garden gates made of wood give an old-fashioned look. Vineing ivy or jasmine plants climbing weaving in and out of the holes are perfect. Put some lovely flowering potted plants beside the gate for extra effect.
An old wagon wheel leaning up against a white picket fence in the garden is enchanting. A reminder of the old time western days.
A old metal and wood plow is another way to get the old fashioned look. Different kinds of vegetable plants look great pot planted by a plow. Try tomato's, bell pepper, or hot peppers.
Wishing wells are still popular these days. One with a rope and bucket that is built of wood and stones could be a great attraction. Plant pretty daisy plants in the raised bucket so they can be seen.
In closing there are many imaginative ways to add decorative touches to your garden. New idea's will surprise you when you see something that inspires you. Have some fun with them. Enjoy your garden and life!
